In indian laws for each and every religion there are seperate enacted laws are their like Hindu Law, Mohammedan Law, Christian Laws. Where there are no specific religious law is not applicable the special marriage act is applicable. Even the both spouses can opt special marriage act by leaving their religious act. In the Hindu law there are different groundsw specified to obtain divorce for male and female seperately. Mainly the common grounds are cohabitation of spouse with others, conversion of religion, cruelty, diserton for 2 years by any spouse etc.Any spouse can apply for divorce after completion of 1 year from the date of marriage. The married couple can apply for divorce with mutual consent at any time in their marital life in concerned family courts, divorce can be granted after 6 months judicial seperation. In some cases according to supreme court orders the 6 months judicial sepearation shall be exempted.
